DUMBO

On an early morning when all the people were still a sleep a group of storks hovered in the sky. Each stork was carrying a small bundle as they arrived at the circus tents down below. The storks dropped the bundles, which floated down to the animals below. Each bundle had a baby that was delivered to the right parents. Baby giraffes, tigers, hippopotami, bears, and kangaroos floated down to their parents. There was one mother elephant, Mrs. Jumbo, who was sad because she did not get a bundle delivered to her.

Before long the circus was packed up and loaded on Casey Jr, the train. Casey Jr whistled and chugged along the hills as he carried the circus tents and animals.

As Casey Jr went along the tracks a stork came down looking for Mrs. Jumbo. The stork was carrying a bundle and shouting, "Mrs. Jumbo!" All the elephants led the stork over to their compartment with the trunks pointing in their direction. The stork delivered the small bundle to Mrs. Jumbo and sang happy birthday to the new baby elephant. Mrs. Jumbo named her new baby, Jumbo Jr.

The stork flew off and then the elephants cooed at the new baby.

The new baby sneezed and two big floppy ears unfolded around him. The other elephants laughed at him and called him Dumbo. Mrs. Jumbo took Dumbo and walked into the corner away from the other elephants.

Casey Jr and the circus arrived at their new station on a rainy night. All the animals, including Dumbo, helped set up the tents. When morning came the circus animals and people led a parade down the street. Dumbo held him mother's tail as they marched along at the end of the parade. Poor Dumbo though was not paying attention and tripped over his ears and fell in a puddle of mud. The kids on the side laughed at Dumbo and Dumbo's eyes filled with tears.
One boy went up to Dumbo and pulled at his ear, hurting Dumbo. This angered Mrs. Jumbo so she picked up the boy and spanked him with her trunk to teach him to leave Dumbo alone. The crowd panicked and thought Mrs. Jumbo was going wild so the trainers tied up Mrs. Jumbo and led her away where she was locked up by herself. Dumbo was left all alone.
Dumbo looked for the elephants trying to find his mother, but all they did was turn their backs on him. The other elephants talked about Dumbo like he was a disgrace and blamed him for everything.
Dumbo wept and hid under a pile of straw. While Dumbo was crying he felt something moving around him. A small mouse named Timothy came out and talked to Dumbo and coaxed him into coming out. Timothy told Dumbo how unfair it was to him that the other elephants ignored him. Timothy thought that Dumbo's ears weren't bad at all. So Timothy crept up behind the elephants and let out a big, "Boo!" This startled all the elephants because they are scared of little mice, like Timothy. After that Timothy and Dumbo stuck together like pals.

Timothy thought that Dumbo should be the star of the circus so that night Timothy went into the Ringmaster's tent and whispered in his ear. Timothy whispered that he should use Dumbo in a big act in his circus. The next morning when the Ringmaster woke up he was shouting, "Dumbo, Dumbo, Dumbo!" That night the Ringmaster set up a new act to star Dumbo with the other elephants. All the other elephants stacked themselves up balancing on each other with the bottom elephant on a ball. It was then time for Dumbo to make his entrance. With his ears tied up over his head Dumbo ran out, but unfortunately as he ran his ears untied and he tripped over them. Dumbo smashed into the ball supporting the elephants and they all started to topple over. The elephants bounced all over and swung around eventually crashing on the ground.
